An important step in keeping your mouth healthy.

Life these days is a very busy stride in which people are in a rush and so keeping yourself healthy is also a very important task . People in their busy lives thus ignore or take granted the daily chores of washing, cleaning bathing and brushing and thus become vulnerable to many diseases because of lack of hygiene.

Flossing is thus one of the things which people generally ignore because they think it’s not needed for them as brushing their teeth makes everything clean( as they suppose)

But, do you really think that it’s really a silly task to perform which wastes your time and has no productive effect?

NO!! it’s not!

And that is what we are going to tell you today in this article..all about Flossing!

So, what is flossing ? Flossing is a process of cleaning your mouth with the help of dental flosses. Dental floss is a cord of thin filament which helps in cleaning the nook and corners of your dentition where your toothbrush is unable to reach.

Why is flossing important ?

A floss generally removes all the debris or food particles which got stuck in your mouth and which can cause decaying of your tooth or bad breath if not removed. Thus in a way flossing prevents gingivitis which can be caused due to poor oral hygiene and also prevent dental plaque formation.

Moreover flossing helps in equal distribution of fluoride from your toothpaste among the teeth especially in between the embrasures.

Dentists recommend people to floss once a day after tooth brushing to remove all the stuck debris in your mouth.

The correct way to floss:

Flossing if done properly can give you wonderful results but it is seen that many people don’t know how to floss and if they know they do it wrongly. So, the correct way to floss should be known to all of us. There are various techniques as well of flossing, here will discuss the most common way to floss.

Take a long cord of floss approx 18 inches and wind it around your middle finger of both your hands now hold it with your thumbs and guide it gently between your teeth in a rubbing motion keeping it away from snapping the gums. Curve the floss into c shape by putting it against the tooth and slide it from top to bottom of the tooth and remember to do it on the back side as well.  Once done throw away the used floss.
